MathSmart - The Author

Famous Super Maze - Created by Educo Services

George Valentine, Educo Services Pty Ltd, Maths Teacher and Author, Creator

George has a background in Primary School teaching and management over many years.  His philosophy includes a strong belief in learning through doing.  He believes practice in many different forms is the best way to consolidate skills, with children writing, talking and physically experiencing Number.  Success is always better than failure as a motivator, so small, sequential steps are key, with a particular emphasis on FUN.

Educo Services invented the now-famous Super Maze, with three-dimensional wire paths for coloured beads.  This won the Classic Toy Award in 1999 and 2003 in the USA.  Model ED 184 was proudly displayed in the Toy Hall of Fame in New York, USA.

MathSmart is a long term project now coming to fruition.  It is a comprehensive resource for teachers and parents alike, covering all the basic mathematical skills.  It is complementary to school curriculums, with multiple approaches to the same material.  Use words, figures and symbols in different ways.  Move between topics and levels to access worksheets for all your children at their current ability level.  Worksheets are presented for written completion, with plenty of room for answers.

ArithMagic is George’s creation.  These are puzzles in geometric shapes using number calculations, encouraging reinforcement of arithmetic skills in a fun way.

MathSmart - The Editor and Producer

Raie and Jamie Lyth, Web Ideas, Editor and Producer

Raie and Jamie Lyth have worked closely with George to bring MathSmart to the world.  As owners of a Web Design company they saw the potential for organising and presenting George's MathSmart information effectively, using the internet.  As dedicated parents to three children they saw the need for resources to help children (and indeed adults) improve their basic mathematical skills.  Bringing the two together is highly satisfying and is also a work in progress.  Expect regular updates as further sheets are developed.
