What are Limits?

"LIMITS" are used on MathSmart to grade worksheets.  They refer to the largest number used in that Level.  For example, "Level: Limit 10" means the largest number used in that set of exercises is 10 and "Level: Limit 1000" uses the largest number of 1000.

This method has purposely been selected rather than age or grade level.  A person's mathematical ability is not based on age or grade level but on understanding.  All sheets can be used by anyone who is at that level of knowledge, whether older or younger than "usual".

Having said that, the size of the Blank Master used for each set of exercises reflects the likely reading and writing skill of the student.  Limit 10 sheets have larger boxes and larger text than Limit 1000 sheets.  Where the sizing is inappropriate, use a different Blank Master and create worksheets to suit your needs.

MathSmart is perfect for teenagers and adults to sharpen their arithmetic skills.  Not all of us learn the skills we need as children.  As a graded resource, find the areas of weakness and practice a few sheets to build and consolidate knowledge.

MathSmart is also great for gifted children.  There is no need to limit work to age or grade.  Move ahead through the Limits as appropriate, and sideways through the exercises to broaden understanding.
